A graduate of Garrison Forest School, Susan earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing, magna cum laude, from the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond in 1983.
After college she became a partner with her four brothers in P. Fred’k Obrecht & Son. The company managed, leased and oversaw construction of approximately two million square feet of office, retail, and warehouse space annually. Susan was involved in development transactions that the firm spearheaded which exceeded $100 million in value.
During this same period she was an associate broker at the Baltimore firm of Casey & Associates, Inc. (now Trammell Crow Company), specializing in sales and leasing of commercial and industrial real estate.
In 1997 Susan founded Susan Obrecht Riehl Development Corporation; in 2001 John joined the firm which became Obrecht-Riehl Properties. The firm is responsible for managing, marketing, consulting and averaging more than one million square feet of office, retail, and warehouse development annually.
A graduate of St. Paul’s School in suburban Baltimore, John attended Loyola College. In 1979, he began his real estate career as a Property Manager for his grandfather, Henry J. Knott, Sr. The Knott organization owned and managed approximately 10,000 apartment units as well as numerous shopping centers and office buildings throughout Maryland.
He joined MacKenzie and Associates, a commercial real estate firm, as a marketing representative for office, industrial, and retail properties.
In 1988 John joined P. Fred’k Obrecht & Son as Vice President of Marketing and Management, overseeing a two million square foot portfolio of commercial real estate.
John left Obrecht & Sons in 1992 to become a Partner in The Riehl Estate Company, a full service commercial real estate firm. He managed, leased and financed multi-family, retail and office properties.
In 2001 John and Susan founded Obrecht-Riehl Properties. The firm is responsible for management, marketing, leasing, consulting and averaging more than one million square feet of multi-family, residential, office, retail and warehouse development annually in Maryland and Virginia.
In 1984, Robin began her commercial real estate career in property management at Casey & Associates. She has extensive experience in all facets of commercial management and property types.
In 1986, she began a thirteen year career with Murdock Management that involved day to day responsibilities for two buildings totaling 275,000 square feet and a 530 car parking facility. In 2000, she supervised 650,000 square feet of Class A Central Business District real estate for Artemis Properties that included office and retail product.
Robin joined Obrecht-Riehl Properties in 2005; her responsibilities include oversight of the Property Management service delivery for a diverse portfolio and assists John and Susan in underwriting of development opportunities.
A graduate of St. Paul's School, Jack attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earning a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate from the Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2015. In 2016, Jack earned his Masters Degree in Accounting also from the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
After college Jack earned his CPA and started his career in Raleigh, NC with Deloitte in their external audit practice. Jack's audit experience dealt primarily with public and private REITs in the Carolinas.
In 2019, Jack moved back to Baltimore to accept a position as Vice President of Obrecht-Riehl Properties.
